The Fav Picks: Week 3

Last week I was 4-3-1 ATS.  Not that great of a week, however, the games that I put maximum units on, I hit.  That is sometimes bigger than just wins.  A win is great, but if you only put 1 unit on it, then your profit is minimal.  I was plus 15 units even though I only had a 50% winning percentage.  So, after two weeks, I am 3-3 ATS in college football, and 3-0-1 ATS in NFL.

This week I will start with my NFL picks.  With the advice of someone (probably smarter than me) I will be making less picks this week overall.  This being said, the first and only game I like in the NFL is the Indianapolis Colts (+14) at the New Orleans Saints.  I like the Saints to cover this game.  The Colts have yet to see an offense that is ranked in the top 10.  The Saints are ranked 2nd.  The Colts defense is 27th in NFL.  Curtis Painter is still the Colts QB.  The Saints are averaging 35 points a game at home while the Colts are only averaging a little over 13 points per game on the road.  I really just don't see how the Colts will keep this close.  I'm putting 5 units on this game.

I will only be picking 2 games in NCAA this week.  The first game I like is West Virginia (-14) at the Syracuse Orange.  West Virginia is averaging 40 points per game, and only loss is to the number one team in the nation LSU.  Syracuse has struggled against the pass and WV is number 4 in the nation in passing offense. Syracuse also is beaten up at offensive line and secondary.  Expect WV to put up another 40+ point game.  WV wins 48-21.  I'm putting 5 units on this game.

The last game I like in college this week is Oregon State (+3) at Washington State.  Oregon State's secondary is beat up and they are just a poor team in general.  Washington State doesn't give up many passing yards and Oregon State RB again is questionable with a hamstring problem.  Since running isn't Oregon State's forte, they are forced to throw the ball on a good Washington State secondary.  Oregon State has lost the turnover battle in all of their loses and will do so again Saturday.  I'm betting 10 units on this game.  Washington State wins 31-27.
